The Senior Boys Lacrosse Team competed in the Provincial High School Lacrosse Championships just prior to Spring Break. They made it to the final game in the tier 2 championships and played a hard fought battle against Holy Cross for the Gold! It was a great game, back and forth on the score board. They ended up down by 2 at the final whistle. Griffin Hebert, a new player, received MVP in the final game! We are so proud of these boys as this was the first time LSS had a Lacrosse team and they had an incredibly successful season! Special thanks to their coach, Naomi Walser, our super incredible Aboriginal Support Worker and national lacrosse champion!
Georgia Ellenwood, a grade 11 LSS student was awarded Top Female High School Athlete on March 8, 2012. Georgia is a rising star in the athletic world. Last year at the BC provincial Track and Field Championships she won gold medals in the heptathlon, 100m hurdles, long jump and high jump. She was also named the meet's most outstanding female performer. Following the high school season, Georgia competed at the 2011 Canadian Legion youth championships, winning gold and setting a new Canadian record in the heptathlon and qualifying to represent Canada at the world youth championships in France. At the 2010 B.C. Summer Games, she won the W.C. Bennett Award as the top performer, having won four gold medals in her four track and field events. Georgia is part of the Olympic Development Program, which aims to identify, promote and develop, and retain high performance success for the country's top track and field athletes who will be between the ages of 23 and 30 in 2016. She is aiming to go to the Olympics in 2020! CONGRATULATIONS GEORGIA!!!!
