Mr. RahnThe Langley Secondary Guitar Program is offered to students who are beginners or those already advanced on the instrument. There are two levels:

1) GUITAR I: 9-12 (MGR09, MGR10, IMG11, IMG12)
Guitar I is for beginning and less experienced students interested in learning to play guitar. The emphasis of this course will be learning proper playing technique and the basics of music theory through the study and performance of a variety of styles of music. There will be regular in-class performances and the opportunity for recording. Guitars will be available for classroom use although students are encouraged to bring their own acoustic or classical guitar.

2) GUITAR II: 9-12 (MGR09, MGR10, IMG11, IMG12)
Prerequisite: Guitar I or permission of a counsellor
Guitar II is for experienced guitarists interested in continuing their study of the instrument. This course will expand students playing technique and understanding of music theory through the study and performance of a variety of styles of music. There will be regular in-class performances and the opportunity for recording. Guitars will be available for classroom use although students are encouraged to bring their own acoustic or classical guitar.

Another component of the course is the opportunity to participate in the Fraser Valley Acoustic Guitar Festival which is held in April. This world-class event brings together players from around British Columbia, as well as offers workshops by local and remote professional players. There is also a concert featuring a world-class guitarist at the end of the session.
