The Terry Fox Humanitarian Award is open to graduating secondary level students and those currently studying towards a first university degree or diploma in a Canadian post-secondary institution.
Award recipients must meet the following criteria:
a) Involvement in voluntary humanitarian work.
b) Canadian citizens or landed immigrants.
c) Undergraduates studying towards their first university degree or diploma at a Canadian post-secondary institution in Canada
d) Maintain a satisfactory academic standing and continued involvement in voluntary humanitarian and community work.
Students are eligible to receive the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award until they have received their first university degree (for a maximum of four years), provided they have maintained a standard of humanitarian work and personal conduct which, in the opinion of the Board of Directors, justifies the award.
Recipients are selected for their dedication to the humanitarian ideals of Terry Fox, their volunteer experience, their courage in overcoming obstacles, their participation in sport, fitness and community service and their academic standing. The Terry Fox Humanitarian Award is NOT a ‘disability award, nor is it granted solely on financial need. The field of study is open and at the discretion of the successful candidate.Value: $7,000 per year, paid directly to the institution in two installments of $3,500 each. Youth Leadership Contest: Think that someone should do something about bullying? That someone is you! The Prevent Bullying WITS Youth Leadership Contest offers 13 prizes of $500 to support youth-led bullying prevention projects. Youth, 18 years and under, can submit their ideas on Facebook or at the WITS website.
The RBC Students Leading Change Scholarship for Undergraduates is offered for students who show a passion for academic excellence inside the classroom, as well as a passion to lead and inspire positive changeoutside the classroom. Applications are now available.
The Horatio Alger Jim Pattison British Columbia Scholarship Program will award $5,000 scholarships to
20 students. The application process will begin October 1, 2013 and is open to students in their last year of high school who will attend a post-secondary institution in the fall of 2014. Deadline: December 1, 2013
